The Honolulu Museum of Art was established in 1922 by Anna Rice Cookie. It formally opened on April 8, 1927 and was formerly called the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Since the time the museum was founded it has amassed a total collection of 50,000 artworks. The museum showcases internationally renowned works of art from Warhol, Picasso, Monet, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Hokusai.
